The daily housekeeper will keep the villa immaculate.  She washes all sheets and towels. Personal laundry requests are happily accepted but not included in your rental.  Please accommodate her with a small stipend for her service.  Laundry machines are not for guests’ use.

Security System

While Puerto Vallarta is very safe, we have installed an excellent security system for additional peace of mind.  The property is also secured with a 24 hour vehicle patrol.

WiFi & Telephone

Wifi is available throughout the entire villa.   Our guests can make free telephone calls to Canada and USA.

Bars and Music

Two wet bars located upstairs and downstairs.  An eight-speaker surround sound system is available throughout the villa for you to enjoy your iPod, iPad, iPhone or Sirius XM radio music.   A DVD player and a movie library are available along with Netflix.

Children at Casa Do Re Mi

We built our home to accommodate children of all ages!  The large pool is shallow at one end with wide steps for easy accessibility.  It also serves as a great place for toddlers to sit and play for hours.  Grown kids can enjoy the 8′ deep end as well as nearby Conchas Chinas beach where you can also rent kayaks!   For young children, we have a large supply of plastic pool toys, but we do not provide floaties, life preservers, flippers or goggles.

Transportation to airport

A professional English speaking driver will personally take you from the time you clear customs (aduana) to the villa.   The charge, for up to eight (8) guests, is $120 USD round trip from and to the airport.

Rental cars:  We do not suggest renting a car as taxi cabs are very inexpensive and plentiful.  Should you desire to tour, we suggest you use Gregorio, who was born in PV and will give you the best tour of any areas you wish to see.

Spectacular Ocean Vistas

The expansive terraces are perfect places to enjoy incredible and mesmerizing views of the Bay of Banderas.   In certain months you can even spot whales right in front of our balcony.  Each day boats and catamarans head south to the pristine beaches.  Each evening another incredible sunset awaits you.

History

In 1971 my family came to Puerto Vallarta after having vacationed in Acapulco for years.  They fell in love with the town, the amazing vistas of the Bay, lush green mountains and jungle. But what captured their hearts was the friendliness of the people.  Upon meeting architect Bernardo Applegate, they were shown a piece of land he intended to use for his family home.   After much persuasion, he sold the property to my Dad who then asked him to design his dream house.   There were no roads, no electricity and no water on our mountain.  We chose Lot #1 and one year later it was finished.    When it came time to name it, the Sound of Music was still a very popular play on Broadway.  Since our family was very musical, my mother and grandmother were accomplished pianists, we decided to name it Casa Do Re Mi.

That was 45 years ago and Casa Do Re Mi has withstood the test of time.  My husband and I took ownership of the house in 1980.  We have thoroughly enjoyed owning and improving such a wonderful piece of history in Vallarta.  Surrounded by jungle on three sides and being totally open to the ocean on the back, we have tried to keep the integrity of the original plans and continually update but in the traditional Mexican style.   Many people comment how the house has such an old but yet new feeling of comfort and style.

When we do not have guests, we put our home on tour to benefit the International Friendship Club  (IFC).  They have been providing medical assistance to underprivileged children since 1985 and take pride in its unique Cleft Palate Program.  This deformity is common in Mexico.

Because of our location, the tour buses come by our home frequently and we have heard so many funny stories including, “this is the home of”… Liberace, Julio Iglesias and Vikki Carr.  This makes for great tour guide stories.  However, we can say that we have had Candice Bergen, Jane Powell, Maestro Constantine Orbelian and a duchess from France, as some of our infamous guests.   We treasure our family, friends and wonderful guests from Copenhagen and Scotland to Alaska and throughout the USA that have shown such love for Casa Do Re Mi.  For that we are most grateful.   Barb and Bob Sypult
